How To Cure Candida

The natural treatment that permanently cure fungal yeast infections

Cause Of Candida Overgrowth

Written By: admin - Mar• 06•12

If your yeast infection keeps coming back then you're in the same situation that 5% of women get into at some point in their life. Some women suffer from recurrent yeast infections for months while some suffer for years. If your Candida overgrowth is continually giving you reminders that it is present in your body there is a reason for your problem. It can easily be cured, but first you need to find the underlying cause.

We'll start off with the biggest cause of yeast infections, and that is the use of antibiotics. Antibiotics are prescribed so often now, and they're prescribed for infections that don't even need antibiotics. This is because a prescription of antibiotics gets patients out of the doctor's surgery quicker, and they help to keep the medical industry funded.

Antibiotics cause vaginal Candida infections because they destroy all of your body's natural defences so the Candia Albicans yeast is allowed to mutate into an aggressive fungus. This fungus will feed on the cells of your body, and it will gradually impair your health.

Another cause of Candida overgrowth in your body is a weakened immune system. Your immune system will help keep infections away from you if it is running at its best. If it's weak then most bacteria and fungus will be able to infect you as a healthy immune system will start fighting infections as they start. Your doctor can check your health to see if there is any reason why your immune system could be weak.

An underlying illness or health condition can cause recurrent yeast infections. Diabetes is one because of the fluctuating blood sugar levels it can cause. If you suffer from diabetes and Candida infections you could monitor your sugar levels more or speak to your doctor about changing your medication.

Immune suppressing illnesses such as the HIV/AIDS virus will cause chronic yeast infections. Unfortunately this is an illness that won't allow you to cure the infection. You can only take drugs to control it because with this virus your immune system will always be weak.

The birth control pill is another cause. It changes hormone levels which can alter blood sugar levels. All this activity in your body will cause the Candida to mutate. You can speak to your doctor about changing your medication or you can try a different form of birth control.

Wearing tight underwear that doesn't allow your skin to breath will cause vaginal infections. Wearing white cotton instead of nylon is much more beneficial for the air circulation around your genital area, and wearing loose fitting pants will help as well.

If one of these are the cause of your frequent yeast infections then you're already on your way to eliminating the mutated Candida yeast from your body. Learning the cause is only the start to your recovery. You will need to starve the Candida, and kill it to rid your body of this health destroying fungus.

  1. QUESTION:
Candida Overgrowth - Help?! Loosing Weight can cause Candida Overgrowth?
    Hi everyone,

Recently for the past 8 months or so I underwent a controlled diet to loose weight. I was morbidly obese. I weighed 158Kilos, now I am 97 Kilos. I started the diet on the 1st of September 2008. I went to my nutritionist and she told me everything about what to eat. My diet was of a maximum of 1200 Cals daily and still trying to loose more.

I lost all that weight but now I noticed that my tongue always have a white coating on it. I clean it with my toothbrush and tongue cleaner using aloe vera mouthwash a toothpaste. It get's better for a few but then it goes back to the same state.

Also my throat has a pale whitish patch one the left side where my tonsil use to be. (my parents removed them for me when i was a little boy) It's not thick the patch, just like a stain.

I have all the symptoms of candida nowadays. Hips ache, fatigue, blured vision, short term memory, cant keep attention for long... you name it.. iprobably have it. Sometimes I feel like crying and i don't know why. Actually I consider my life to be at a great place right now. Lost all the weight, got a good job, i exsercise daily at the gym, go out with friends etc etc... but still i get these weird moodswings. And sometimes also my body itches all over. I feel cold when others feel normal etc etc... i was obese all my life and this new body for me is a whole new experience. I am male 21 btw. I do consider having a hactic lifestyle though. I work 7 days a week, exercise 5 days a week and I'm always on the go afterwork trying to keep up with a relationship aswell. i feel over tired most of the time aswell.

I was wondering if this sounds familiar to someone with candideaovergrowth and what should i do to cure it?

Also in three weeks times i'm taking stds test just to make sure it's not from some other desese i am having these symptoms.

  2. QUESTION:
Candida overgrowth cause for over weight? Do you have experience?
    Hi guys,
and thank for taking the time to read this.
have you been treated or used candida tablets to get rid of candida and lost weight bc of it? What about other problems like dandruff etc??
    Thanks for your help.

    • ANSWER:
Once i dealt with my sugar and wheat addiction i lost 12 kilos in as many weeks........ it made me a bit ratty for the first few weeks until i got used to not eating processed sugar and wheat but i now have energy to spare and certainly don't have anymore weight to spare.

The classic telltale signs of a yeast overgrowth ....... candidiasis ...... are those of a white tongue (thrush), toenail or fingernail fungus, jock itch or athlete's foot, and vaginal yeast infections........... an overgrowth of yeast can affect virtually every system of the body with the gastrointestinal, genitourinary, endocrine, nervous and immune systems being the most susceptible.... common symptoms of candidiasis include:

      Inability to lose weight,
      Digestive disorders, including IBS;
      Gastrointestinal symptoms: thrush, bloating gas, rectal itching;
      Vaginal yeast infections;
      Urinary tract infections;
      Athlete's foot or jock itch;
      Fungal toenails or fingernails;
      Cravings for sugar, bread, or alcohol;
      Diaper rash;
      Fatigue;
      Irritability (especially when hungry);
      Premenstrual syndrome and menstrual problems;
      Fibromyalgia;
      headaches;
      Brain fog;
      Skin problems or itching;
      Numbness or tingling in the extremities;
      Respiratory problems;
      Depression;
      Hypoglycemia;
      Short attention span;
      Loss of libido.

Bad digestion would be indicated by a deep crack down the middle of your tongue.

Candidiasis almost never occurs in people with healthy immune systems who eat a diet low in sugar and yeast....you need to avoid all yeast and sugar products to kill a yeast infection ......... sugar will literally feed the yeast overgrowth allowing it to flourish......... ditch the alcohol and sodas and diet sodas too if you drink any .......... antiobiotics, especially broad - spectrum antiobiotics will also kill the helpful bacteria which you need for a healthy gut ........ supplement with a good quality probiotic to rebalance gut flora ......... this part is absolutely essential for without the good flora your system will remain completely out of whack ...... eat more alkaline forming foods such as leafy and green vegies, fishes such as tuna, salmon, sardines and whiting, organic nuts and seeds such as almonds and brazil nuts........ all these foods are rich in magnesium and will thus encourage the production of hydrochloric acid in your tummy aiding in digestion and effective elimination ........the leafy greens and fishes are also rich in calcium and protein and the fish are a rich source of vitamin D too ....... eat quinoa (prounounced keen ~ wah) as it is a rich source of the B complex of vitamins and will provide you with the carbs you need for sustained energy and the quinoa is also rich in calcium and iron .......... don't forget about getting enough iron on a daily basis too ie ~ lean red meats ..... Avoid sugars such as honey, molasses, fructose, maltose, lactose (that means all milk and dairy products) and fruit juices ...... avoid artificial sweetners and foods containing brewer's yeast - ie - alcohol such as beer, wine, brandy, whiskey, rum, ciders and root beer.... avoid baker's yeast ie ~ breads and rolls and pastries .... avoid mushrooms ... avoid fruits and vegies with any sign of mold growth on them .... avoid fermented beverages and condiments including mayonnaise, ketchup, pickled vegies and pickles, salad dressings (use lemon and olive oil instead), soy sauce and vinegar .... avoid all types of hard cheeses which are a pretty good source of mold.... avoid processed and smoked meats and fish, including hot dogs, sausages, luncheon meats etc....... these meats are processed with sugar, spices, yeast and other preservatives .... avoid canned bottled or frozen fruit and vegie juices cos they have loads of sugar and are commonly made from overripened or damaged produce; generally the skin of the fruit contains surface mold and rotten spots, which are pulverised into the juice... avoid dried fruits.... avoid coffee & tea as much as you can as caffeine will aggravate yeast overgrowth..................... you don't need to use medications to kill a yeast overgrowth ..... simply eliminate their food source and they will disappear on their own ...... if you normalise the bacterial flora in the gastrointestinal tract you will feel much better and in most cases won't need drugs ♥

truly, eat loads and loads of green and leafy vegies, squeeze lemon juice over it to spice it up and help torch bacteria and bolster both your immunity and digestive process ........eat some low sugar fruits each day too such as strawberries, blueberries, cantalope, pears and watermelon and cold water fresh fishes and quinoa and watch it clear up........ oh, drink loads and loads of fresh filtered water to ... to ensure you are properly hydrated as the healthiest and happiest body will always be the most hydrated one .

make sure that you only eat organic nuts and seeds like almonds, brazil nuts and sunflower seeds too as they "preserve" the commercial varieties with sulfites and other nasty chemicals that will upset sensitive digestive systems.

      hope you feel better soon

      peace 2 you

  3. QUESTION:
chronic candida overgrowth, doctors cant help, any suggestions or experiences?
Hey all, I have had chronic Candida overgrowth for probably 5 years already. As of yet, any medication that I have tried only worked for a week or so and then my symptoms came back. When I tried natural remedies, and I did it for over a year, they helped me at the moment but as soon as I stopped my symptoms came back. I can not eat, pretty much anything but lettuce and cucumbers and garlic. Those are the three things that will not cause me to be in severe pain. Basically, it’s as if I am allergic to all foods that cause Candida to grow. My symptoms started out with a severe yeast infection and went to cystitis then to severe weight gain and in the process I was diagnosed with Hepatitis C. I did the full treatment for Hepatitis C and during the one year treatment all my Candida problems went away. And again, as soon as I concluded my treatment my body went back to having the same Candida problems as before, the weekly yeast infections, the severe pain during urination, etc.
I am pretty sure that my Hepatitis C was cause by my chronic Candida infection, but our knowledgeable doctors can not diagnose Candida overgrowth and blame it on something else. To date, I am still struggling with chronic Candida overgrowth and after tons of research and trials of herbal medications I have yet to find an actual cure, not just a cover up for the problem.
I would love it if someone, who had a similar experience as mine and found a cure for the infection, helped me out in this dire situation. I will be forever grateful, and I do want to mention that I know quiet a few people who have gone through the same thing that I am going through, but till this date have not been successful in finding an actual solution to the problem. Any information is greatly appreciated.
A nutritionist is a good idea, thank you.
I have taken Diflucan and Nystatin but each time i stopped taking them I had recuring infections. And I did get tested for all kinds of STD's and HIV and I am negative for all.
piratephyl and nichole m, thank you so much, you have provided me with some new information. Piratephyl i have just gone to the yeastconnection site u gave me and its incredible, i can attain so much more information regarding my situation, thank you! Nichole m i have just e-mailed the doctor you told me about, since i live in New York, it will be hard for me to go see him. I am really happy that you had found a cure for your problem, thank you!

    • ANSWER:
It is TOTAL B.S. that your doctor can't help. Make him! Get the book called the Yeast Connection by Dr. William Crook and take it to your doctor. I had to. It is very informative and it helped me after I got it into my doctor's hands and he listened and he FINALLY prescribed something. I was really tired of him thinking I was a hypochondriac! I haven't had to see him much since, and never again for a yeast problem! (with exception of minor ones after taking a round antibiotics).

There are oral drugs (Nystatin is one I took for almost a year- it was actuality 11 months and 12 days with no yeast infection recurrence with exception of that noted above) you can take that will take care of it. (Fluconazole is another--taken as a weekly or monthly maintenance or suppressive treatment for 6 months to 1 year, to stop persistent, recurring vaginal yeast infection. All cases of recurring vaginal yeast infections should be confirmed by culture before preventive therapy begins).
You can bet that the yeast infection is all through your body including your joints, as well as in your intestinal tract and stomach contributing to a lot of your discomfort. You need increase your intake of yogurt with active cultures (make sure they are active cultures and so stated on the labeling) that seems to help also.

I have also included a link to some homeopathic remedy's that may help, but in my opinion, they would not be effective for you without the aid of pharmaceuticals. My suggestion that what they suggest may be used after the infection is under control, as maintenance and preventative.

Don't take bubble baths and limit your use of scented body wash, sprays, soap, detergents, perfume, etc. Wear only 100% cotton underwear (very important), don't sit around in a wet bathing suit. Change to something dry the minute you get out of water. Just attention to some little details like those above will help.

After you are able to get your yeast overgrowth under control, your diet will open up and you will be able to eat what you want again. I went years without being able to eat normally, I was "allergic" to everything, and gained weight very easily although I did not over eat.

Good luck and know that THERE IS RELIEF out there just keep pursuing your physician and make he or she listen to you!!!!! The medicine is NOT harmful, not narcotic, and there is absolutely NO reason you should not be prescribed something that will HELP tremendously. If you can't get your doctor to listen and prescribe something for you, find another one immediately and make sure you let him know you are doing so! If you don't take control it isn't going to happen!

Email me if you need more information.

  4. QUESTION:
Best treatment to get rid of candida overgrowth?
I am hoping someone has been through this and can give me information on the best product to treat this problem without costing a whole lot (money is a little tight). I have been reading about threelac and also another product called syntol. I have seen a lot of good reviews on threelac, but can't seem to find any on syntol. Please give me your opinion on these or other products if you or someone you know has gone through this treatment for candida overgrowth. I was also wondering about the oxygen drops and if they were helpful or even necessary. I am pretty sure I need to also take digestive enzymes and probiotics with the threelac? Also the best product (not expensive) for the leaky gut candida overgrowth causes? Also, how to prevent it from coming back without having to take threelac forever (its kind of expensive)? Sorry for all the questions. Thanks in advance for all answers!
According to reviews I have read on threelac, it is the best, fastest and easiest product to use. I would really like to hear from someone that has used, or knows someone that has used threelac, their opinions on it and if they used other products with it.

    • ANSWER:
I am a fan of the cleanse at GNC. You will need to take probotics to win the good bacteria over the bad bacteria.
The thing is yeast feeds on sugar. If you eliminate sugar and processes foods, and tip your body back on the alkaline side the yeast can't survive. The cleanse kick starts the toxic removal system. Then gradually eliminate the things that cause the yeast to grow.
      http://www.thecandidadiet.com/

Poor diet, an out-of-balance intestinal bacterial environment, and weakened immunity can all give rise to candida. Overuse of antibiotics destroys the natural flora in the intestines that keep the candida cells in check. Cancer patients undergoing chemotherapy, AIDS patients, infants, diabetics and others with weakened immune systems are more susceptible to an infection of candida (candidiasis). Corticosteroids and oral contraceptives also upset the balance of intestinal flora. Yeast cells mutate, requiring ever higher dosages of Nystatin (the anti-fungal drug), so that the yeast is
strengthened and the immune system further weakened.
      Reversing candida

      1.Detox
The first aim of your Candida cleanse is to cleanse the system of the toxic byproducts of Candida. Fasting, colon cleansing, wheatgrass, fresh vegetable juices, plenty of water, detox herbs, exercise, and anything else that extracts toxins.
2.Reduce the yeast population in your system
Candida treatment must bring yeast cells back into balance. Use anti-microbial herbs and phytochemicals in formulas from your natural or health food store that include a combination of these powerful herbs, 15 days on then 5 days off, repeating as long as needed. The 5 day break discourages mutating yeast from multiplying and developing immunity to the herbs.
      3.Inoculate yourself with probiotics
Probiotic bacteria favorably alter the intestinal microflora balance, inhibit the growth of harmful bacteria, promote good digestion, boost immune function, and increase resistance to infection. People with flourishing intestinal colonies of beneficial bacteria are better equipped to fight the growth of disease-causing bacteria. Lactobacilli and bifidobacteria, along with acidophilus (found in yogurt), maintain a healthy balance of intestinal flora by producing organic compounds (lactic acid, hydrogen peroxide, and acetic acid) that increase the acidity of the intestine and inhibit the reproduction of many harmful bacteria. Probiotic bacteria also produce substances called bacteriocins, which act as natural antibiotics to kill undesirable microorganisms.
      4.Improve your diet
A diet to eliminate Candida is a long-term lifestyle – and in fact diet is your best defence against candida. Yeast loves sugar and simple carbohydrates; if you keep feeding yeast cells they will multiply, and even the best anti-microbial herbs won’t keep them in check. Eat a disciplined diet for at least 3 months, then When your symptoms disappear, you can expand your diet. But don’t revert to old habits, or the candida symptoms will quickly return.
      Foods to Avoid

Aged cheeses, alcohol, chocolate, dried fruits, fresh fruits, fermented foods, mushrooms, vinegar, glutenous foods (wheat, rye, oats, barley), all sugars, honeys and syrups (that includes any ‘ose’, like lactose, sucrose etc), and foods that contain yeast or mold (breads, muffins, cakes, baked goods, cheese, dried fruits, melons, peanuts – although nutritional and brewer’s yeasts are not harmful, as they do not colonize in the intestines).

      Foods to Eat

Vegetables (including plenty of raw garlic), protein foods (beef, chicken, eggs, fish), live yogurt cultures (both dairy and non-dairy,) FOS*, whey, acidophilus, green algae (such as spirulina and chlorella), nuts, seeds and oils, and non-glutenous grains (like millet, rice, rice bran and oat bran).

My daughter is diabetic. You would not believe what this stuff causes!

  5. QUESTION:
Could I possibly have candida overgrowth, I am 27 and cant get diagnosis?
I have gone through numerous tests due to my abdominal pains, they radiate to my sides and rear ribs, the general mood that describes me is "very uncomfortable" as in my body always feels that way in the torso area. I never could imagine a pain lasting for so long, only letting up a a few hours a day (but not even all the way) or when sleeping. Thank god I have great insurance, I look very healthy from the outside, but on the inside the pain is constant in the background, when it flares up sometimes I feel like life is not worth living. Here are all the tests I have had:

ct scan when this all started in june- normal
Ct scan with contrast 3 months in - normal
Ct scan with contrast again 6 months later - normal
mri of abdomen/liver/pelvis with gado contrast 6 months into this- normal
    abdominal ultrasound - normal
Hida scan with cck - 83% ejection fraction
    rib xray - normal
small bowel follow through - normal (possible intestinal spasming seen)
hydrogen breath test - spiked twice at 2.5 and 3 hours (abnormal?)
cbc and various blood work - normal except elevated ferritin 386, elevated alt liver enzymes 141, elevated total and indirect bilirubin ~2.2 (they say I have gilbert's syndrome which causes elevated bilirubin?)
    colonoscopy 3rd month - normal
    endoscopy 3rd month - normal
mri of thoracic spine - normal
    hepatitis panels - normal
    tsh thyroid test - normal
    vitamin b12 test - normal
    celiac test - normal
    camera endoscopy - normal
    various stool tests - normal

The only relief I get is from using magnesium citrate (a laxative) and dulcolax (a stimulant laxative) Then after 24 hours of not eating, when I am completely empty I start to feel better.. but very fatigued because I am hungry. Could it be possible that candida overgrowth could be causing my symptoms? Has anyone that had candida overgrowth in their intestines and overcome it, and do my symptoms sound similar?

I am also constantly suffering from a whitish tongue and bad breath (the dentist says my mouth is fine though) I have been taking these peppermint oil pills lately and I notice 4 hours after taking them I can taste the peppermint in my mouth, like it is in my blood stream. Could this be that "leaky gut syndrome" that is caused by candida?

The only test I ever tested positive on was that hydrogen breath test that spiked twice at the end, for possibly bacterial overgrowth in my small intestine. I did a round of rifaximin, but it was only minimally helpful. Most doctors say I don't have candida because my immune system is not compromised and I do not have aids. What do you think?

    • ANSWER:
      Hi,

I have to disagree with the lovely Tink here.

I'll break my answer up into a few sections of you dont mind.

1.It seems like you have some good doctors( or insurance or however it works in USA )that are actually really trying to get to the bottom of your symptoms and im glad they havn't thrown you to the pit of the psychiatrist or tried to stick on the "easy" label of fibromyalgia.

2.Presuming that your tongue looks likes the first picture that i have linked below, then this is actually bacteria.
This is something that is confused by many people including some medical doctors to be Candida(thrush) and sometimes M.D's have mistakenly prescribed people with this Antifungals in the belief that it was candida only for the patient to find no change/relief in symptoms ultimately.
The second and third photos are what Candida really looks like(warning: photos not for the easily startled)

3.I would really doubt that you would have intestinal candida overgrowth but the leaky gut Tony mentioned, hmm maybe?........
but this is controversial disorder however and there are some other avenues i think would be worth exploring first if your doctors havn't already done so.
I do think its a good idea to avoid Gluten like mentioned though.

4.Peppermint oil pills can cause some people reflux. The way to avoid this is to take Enteric Coated Peppermint Pills so that the pills are kept intact until they reach the small intestine.
If you mean something different regarding your "peppermint taste in your mouth" sensation and not this what i described above, the could you please elaborate further?

5.Have your doctors absolutely confirmed that your elevated Bilrubin levels are caused by you having Gilberts Syndrome or is this just something that they are suspecting?

6.Maybe you have some IBS or other intestinal motility disorder or Small Bowel Overgrowth but i think theres probably a more ultimate cause that is causing those symptoms too & they are could possibly be a secondary result & not the primary disorder.

7.Did the ultrasound include all of liver, gallbladder, spleen, and pancreas? Were you asked to eat something the night before but then nothing after?

8.Ask your doctors for these tests if they havn't already done them(some of these you have probably already had?)
Fecal fat test, serum lipase, fecal elastase,MRCP,AMA blood test(not ana,you possibly already had that before too?),HFE gene test
      and to check regarding these:
More test for Gallstones-they sometimes dont show up on abdominal ultrasound.
      Primary sclerosing cholangitis,Autoimmune pancreaitis,Chronic pancreatitis,Pancreatic cysts,Pancreatic pseudocysts,Sphincter of Oddi dysfuction,Acalculous Cholecystopathy(no stones,ultrasounds often normal) and Ascending Cholangitis.
Web MD says HIDA scan "does not work when the patient's serum bilirubin is greater than 15-20 mg%."

10.What are your stools(poo) like? What colour are they?Do they have fat in them?Do they float? Are they sticky looking like tar?is there any undigested food etc etc?

11.Were you taking any pharmaceuticals or herbs prior to this starting or traveled to somewhere like Asia?

In the meantime, avoid fatty foods and be careful with fiber as it actually makes some constipation worse.

  6. QUESTION:
How do you get rid of CANDIDA or YEAST overgrowth in colon?
I have severe acne for two years and I took antibiotics for six months, and I think I might have candida overgrowth that is causing toxicity in my body. Any tips on how to get rid of it is helpful thks.
p.s. this is not a hygenical issue. this is because i took antibiotics for six months that destroyed all the good bacteria in my gut, causing an overgrowth. thank you.

    • ANSWER:
You are right, almost always we find that antibiotics (especially taken as long as you did) causes yeast overgrowth. The easiest and quickest way to get rid of it is to take the natural supplements Morinda Supreme, Melia Supreme and Takesumi Supreme which kill the yeast, while on the anti-fungal diet, which stops feeding the yeast. Learn more at http://fibromyalgia-irritable-bowel-candida-support.com/about-candida.aspx

People usually get rid of the overgrowth in 2-3 weeks by taking the supplements and sticking to the diet.

      Good luck!

  7. QUESTION:
    IBS or bacterial/candida overgrowth?
From much research I have done I have discovered from scientific research that there seems to be a big connection between IBS symptoms and bacterial/candida overgrowth. I am a little frustrated at why most doctors do not take bacterial/candida overgrowth into consideration. Most doctors just tell their IBS patients, "Just take antispasmodics and change your diet." As a result many people have suffered with IBS for years and later discovered that they had bacterial/candida overgrowth. Sometimes it can be due to too many bad toxins in the colon. One guy with IBS didn't get relief until after 20 years. He had a detox and cleaned out the bad crap inside his intestines and his IBS symptoms improved dramatically. After 20 years no doctor helped him. He had to find this out himself. Why do doctors just stick their head in the sand and say, "Ah, IBS is caused by spasms, just take antispasmodics and change your diet."

Bacterial/candida overgrowth can cause Chronic Fatigue Syndrome, bad breath, post nasal drip, feeling unwell, feeling irritable, wind, bloating, constipation, abdomen pain, itchy skin, and much more.....And scientists have now discovered that the majority of IBS sufferers who have a Hydrogen Breath Test usually test positive for bacterial overgrowth. It's the bad bacteria or candida overgrowth that can cause all these IBS symptoms. Are doctors not up to date with this?

    • ANSWER:
OK, interesting, but what do you do about the bacterial/candida overgrowth???

  8. QUESTION:
How do you get rid of an internal Candida overgrowth ?
I never feel ok with my digestive system and always have to avoid certain food that would be harmless to everyone else because it causes me pain or heartburn. I also experience ups and downs with allergies and asthma. Mild depression and lack of concentration along with difficulty to express what is in my mind (can't find the words sometime) also are driving me crazy. Occassionally (very seldom) I have episodes of "a normal brain" in which I feel that my thinking goes normally. I don't know it Candida has to do with it but I also have Epilepsy and Varicocele. I am tires of being "mildly sick" all the time. I did the saliva test and it was positive. If it is the Candida that is causing this trouble, I would like to kill it now. I want to do it naturally and know how to prevent it from coming back.

Thanks to whoever can help me

You will not believe how much better you will feel after just two weeks.

There are other methods to cure Candida. Keep trying different methods until you dicover what works for you but make sure you stick with whatever you try to give it a chance to work. Candida is caused by a powerful acid/alkaline imbalance and likewise will take some discomfort and care to repair. Apple Cider Vinegar and Sea Salt & Distilled Water and or Colloidal Silver might be the easiest way to beat Candida but everyone is their own batch of chemicals and what works for me might not work for you.

  9. QUESTION:
How accurate are HIV tests after 7 months?
Back in may of 07, I got cut at a manicurists. So in december of that same year, I had an HIV test. I got my results on january 17th, it was negative. I'm asking this because, for about a year now, I've been experiencing abdominal pains, diarrhea/constipation, sometimes when I go to the bathroom, all that will come out is this fatty mucus stuff, not even stool. I also have been getting chronic fatigue, body aches, muscle cramps, tingling in my extremities, the scale says I haven't lost anything, but my clothes are noticeably looser, depression, anxiety, joint pain, ataxia (loss of balance), and a whole bunch of other things. My celiac levels were slightly elevated, as was my WBC count. My blood pressure was a little low. Someone also mentioned the possibility of candida overgrowth. I do have a lot of the symtoms for that. What causes candida overgrowth? I heard that the overuse of antibiotics can cause it sometimes. I took some antibiotics in march last year for an ear infection.

If it's candida, could that have caused it? Do people only with HIV/AIDS get candida? I've also been extremely stressed, mainly becuase I haven't been feeling good. I've always gotten dizzy spells and vomiting episodes ever since I was little. Maybe it was an autoimmune disease that's just starting to get worse? Anyway, do you think my test results were accurate or false? I WAS after 7 months that I had the test done. What tests do they do to check for candida? I've already had a stool sample done and a urinalysis because I keepy feeling like I'm getting infections down there and stuff. My appetite isn't like it used to be. My allergies are worse as well. Thanks for any help you can give me!

I haven't had a fever (knock on wood), I have have about 3 or 4 cbc's done, my throid levels checked. I had a CT scan and an MRI scan of my head in june of last year. Everything was fine, until last december when I had that last blood count and my WBC count was a little high. Then in late february, when I had my thyroid and celiac levels checked, that's when they found that my celiac levels were a little elevated.
My stool sample showed absolutely nothing. I'm still waiting for the test results of my urinalysis/urine culture. The doctor said that they would call over the weekend if anything looked abnormal (but they didn't call), he also said they would call on monday, abnormal or not. But nobody ever called.
I've been to the gastroenterologist, and he was the one who thought of testing my celiac levels. He wanted to do an endoscopy and a colonoscopy, But I'm paranoid about how they sterilize tools. I'm seeing a doctor to get more blood drawn on the 3rd.

    • ANSWER:
Your celiac is acting up or you have developed another intolerance or sensitivity. Have you dropped lactose or soy from your diet? You may have an independent sensitivity that you have not addressed. Stop trying to figure it out yourself and get ye to the gastroenterologist!!!
I just re-read this, YOU HAVE CELIAC or at least gluten sensitivity. Get yourself to a gastro and/or allergist!!! NOW!
and at 7 months post minimal potential exposure, you are prob. negative. Give it a rest and re-test at a year. Are you eating gluten free? have you had an endoscopy? What are your ttg, iga and igg numbers?
Yahoo is no place for this, you need to see a gastro asap!
Are you out of your mind? Do the endo at the very least. This all sounds like celiac to me. You should NOT be eating gluten, lactose,or soy at this time. How can you go to an GI doc and then continue to suffer when the answer to it all is one minor procedure away. You are doing nothing but delaying your recovery! Candida overgrowth or leaky gut is one of those grey areas, besides, you need to have another condition to even consider that as an issue.
Go on a gluten and lactose free diet, go back to the GI, find out if it is IBS, colitis or Chron's. You are doing yourself no favors by using the sterlization techniques as an excuse for not getting diagnosis.
After that, get some help for your paranoia, although I am sure you are loving the attention you are getting for all of this.

    • ANSWER:
HIV tests are fairly accurate not 100% but pretty close. Have you had a temperature? Sounds like you have an infection of some type. The fact that you are stressed over it can possibly exacerbate the signs and symptoms you are having. Maybe go to another doctor and ask for a full health check including full blood tests for thyroid, kidney and liver functions, blood counts and maybe even some cancer blood screenings. Just to be sure. If nothing comes of it try not to stress over it. (I know that is hard to do). Just be forceful to the doctors and tell them you want anything and everything to check you out even if they need to do CAT scans and MRIs. This is your body, you are the one feeling like crap and only you can tell whether your symptoms are real. Make sure the doctor listens to you. This is the only body you are going to have. Tell them everything you have just said here. Take care and good luck.

  11. QUESTION:
Muscle and upper back ache - posture, candida, or something else?
Quite regularly, my upper back aches. Sometimes I notice that my back starts to ache after I eat a meal, but I'm not sure if this is just a coincidence. Although it can affect both sides, it tends to ache on the upper left side. Sometimes I'll also get arm ache, in the arm that is on the same side as the pain. Less frequently, I experience a little bit of tingling, but it normally doesn't last very long. My chest does not normally feel tight. I know I had anxiety, which was partially caused by candida overgrowth in my system. Although I've been trying to get the candida under control for the past 5 months, sometimes I will get the symptoms again. Generally, my muscles feel quite tired. When I lightly press on them, they hurt. All of these symptoms also seem to be more frequent a week before I get my period. I'm 25 years old and a student, so I spend a lot of my time hunched over a laptop and need to watch my posture. Any feedback on possible causes and treatment is appreciated!
In response to the Dr., I recently lost 30lbs because I stopped eating sugars and bread and pasta. Right now I'm about 147lbs., but a size 7/9. I'm 5'5 but I'm quite muscular. Thanks for you response.

    • ANSWER:
Hi, what is your weight now?.. One major cause of back aches could possibly be your weight, explaining the fact that after a meal when some weight is transferred on the anterior part of your body, makes your back crunch more or bend., I suggest you get an X-RAY near your area for possible spondylosis. Spondylosis is the compression of your nerves by your vertebrae or spine at the back, explaining why you feel sharp pain on your arm frequently..

Digestive problem caused by Candida. How to get rid of it?
Apparently I have candida overgrowth in my small intenstine and therefore giving me poor digestion. What are some best cures of probiotics for it?

Liquid chlorophyll will promote a healthy digestive environment. Pine apple also helps as it contains the enzyme bromelain in the core.

The two natural antibiotics colloidal silver and garlic oil will help your candida problem.

  13. QUESTION:
Does candida overgrowth make it harder to fight yeast infections?
I have a problem with candida overgrowth and I'm more prone to yeast infections because of it...but I just got my first one in over a year, and even after a Monistat treatment and going to the doctor and getting diflucan, it keeps coming back. It'll disappear for about a day after each treatment, but then it comes right back. Is this caused by my candida overload, or is it more likely I just have a more resitant strain of yeast?

(I'm going back to the doctor, but since it's Sunday I can't call until the morning...and I'm freaking out right now).

  14. QUESTION:
Why do Doctors deny that Candida Ovegrowth is a medical condition?
What do doctors believe about candida albicans, what is their theory?, i know they accept oral/vaginal thrush, and yeast infections on the skin. Do doctors accept that candida overgrowth is caused by antibiotics, the pill, or stress?

When i went to see my doctor she said it was nonsense, and that i should not believe what is written on websites about candida. She said only if i have HIV or cancer {thus a weak immune system} she would prescribe the Nystatin
Why do doctors deny candida overgrowth, candida albicans has been shown to produce alcohol and 70 other toxins in one Japanese study. Is is not plausable then that these toxins enter the bloodstream and cause the patient mental and physical problems?
What possible reason could there be for doctors to ignore this? after all the pharmaceutical cartel and medical establishment can make alot of money from increased antifungal medication sales. I cannot arrive at a reason why this is so, nor any website on candida mentions this issue
I wa prescribed some amphotericin B Lozenges for the oral thrush. But I believe the problem is much deeper than the mouth, and the candida overgrowth must be alot worse in the gut/intestines.

    • ANSWER:
      What a great question.

The answer is interesting and sad. It has to do with the pharmaceutical companies. If they used antifungals they would cure your candida and they have found that they can make more money if they dont cure your diseases. They have actually admitted that they are not interested in curing diseases, but instead they want to "manage" diseases or at least manage the symptoms of diseases. For example, if you have high blood pressure, they dont cure it, they manage it with medication. Stop taking the medication and your blood pressure would go back up. So with candida, it causes a whole host of symptoms, which they can then prescribe you many different medication for longer periods of time. Candida can cause depression for example, so they can sell you an antidep for years and years if not your whole life.
It is sad that they are this hell bent on profits at the risk of your health.
Your doctor is kept out of the loop in this agenda and is none the wiser, as big pharma doesnt tell doctors this, they just tell them to prescribe certain things for certain symptoms. Big pharma is really in charge, not the doctors. Doctors are trained, meaning doctors are taught what to think and believe, they do not make decisions on their own. So they just tell you what they have been told.

You can find doctors that do understand candida if you look for them.

I went through the same thing you are experiencing.
In an ironic twist, it actually worked out better that doctors didnt understand how to fix it, because it forced me to take my health into my own hands.

After alot of research it turns out that I didnt need my doctor to fix my candida, in fact pharma drugs are not the best approach and there are plenty of things you can buy and use that work better.

  15. QUESTION:
Is the candida home test actually right?
So i spit in a clear glass of water before putting ANYTHING in my mouth at all and i came back 15 minutes later and saw string like legs coming off my saliva but i didnt see cloudy saliva at the bottom or cloud like specs? Do i have a candida overgrowth?

Also a side note im taking Symbicort which contains some sort of candidas its for my asthma every time i take im suppose to brush my teeth real good to keep from getting a yeast infection and ALso i was on prednisone for a week which weakened my immune system

The symbicorts only side effect is a yeast infection in the mouth so is it possible that its causing an overgrowth of candidas?

Also after an hour the water clears up and is normal again so could this mean I DONT have a candida overgrowth because i really do NOT wanna go on an extreme diet at the moment

My ears have also recently been in alot of pain and they still are, but the thing is it becomes less tolerable during the night

Also i have post nasal drip but that might be due to allergies

And ive been congested alot lately

I have 3 of the vast symptoms that go with this overgrowth

Can a yeast allergy/intolerance cause a yeast overgrowth. Confused!?
For years now I have had the symptoms of a yeast/candida overgrowth (depression, anxiety, itchy eyes, white tongue, fatigue, mucus etc). After discovering these symptoms I recently cut out all yeast for seven days and my symptoms disappeared within a couple of days. However, I went on holiday and binged for a week on beer, bread etc and my symptoms returned. I then cut it all out when I got back and voila my symptoms disappeared again.

My point is that most of the research I have done on the internet states that a yeast infection will cause a yeast allergy and that a yeast allergy on its own is very rare but it also states that to rid the body of candida and seeing an improvement in symptoms will take months but I see an improvement in a day or two which makes me think I don't have an infection but an intolerance. Is this possible? Its like what came first... the chicken or the egg!? Thanks

  17. QUESTION:
Chronic Fatigue CURE!!!, answer is below (Because I can't answer my own question earlier)?
For those who don't know, many, many ill people, the ‘sole’ cause is Candida overgrowth in the intestines, which then spreads to the circulatory system and eventually it eats it's way onto other organs. Fatigue is caused by Gliatoxin (a neural toxin) and Accetelyde poisoning when Candida ‘dies’ off. Stop the mental and muscle fatigue by taking ‘N-Acetyl Cysteine(VERY IMPORTANT (Mind))’ and ‘Molyzinc’ (Muscle). See your doc for the next bit to cure internally, Difflucan, a prescription drug(Anti fungal), also take on a double/triple rotation basis (minimum of two or three at once), Uva Ursi, Citrus seed extract, garlic, aloe vera, Kolorex, black walnut, goldenseal, cats claw, olive leaf extract, pau’d’arco, (Any of the anti-fungal types). Also you must take Sillymarin(Milk thistle concentrate) to insulate the liver, Candida toxin and these will sure as heck wipe out your liver. Rebuild your body, as Candida eats it and passes macro food molecules through the stomach wall, overloading your immune system, making you susceptible to viruses and very weary. Take ‘Fungilin’ to get it out of your mouth, otherwise you’ll constantly reinfect. You MUST take, a multivitamin, vitamin c(LOTS), L-Glutamine to rebuild stomach wall. Take loads of Acidophulus capsules to replenish good bacteria, the Candida eaters. Don’t take anit-biotics, and don’t eat sugar, AB’s are the sole reason for the Candida getting out of control. If a super serious case, Atkins Diet, no carbs, no sugar and no fermented etc, read his book, New Diet Revolution. TO REALLY CHECK, perform tests, ‘A Full Comprehensive Digestive Analysis’ 0AU (Pathlab or Gribbles) see your doc, check the state of your liver, (Liver De-Tox Test), and very important (Food Screen Analysis), because large food molecules passed into your blood stream make you increasingly intolerant to those foods. (Auto immune response). If you are having bloating too, take a full spectrum digestive enzyme and a protein one when you eat. Get cured people. N-Acetly-Cystein will stop the neural toxin within 30 minutes, a great test. Order that at a compound pharmacist. Remember, don’t frac around with this killer pathogen, it builds resistances and the pounding it does to your liver is HIGHLY dangerous. I’m still battered from it, but now back working full time, after just about hospitalization. I hope this helps.. I’ll release more someday… When my pharmacist and doctor get our acts together! AND Curiosity WINS!

Could it be candida overgrowth or parasites?
I think I've narrowed my symptoms down to 2 causes
    parasites or yeast overgrowth.
I started the candida diet 5 days ago and after two days I felt too weak to go on (I'm only 18 , 5'5.5 and I weigh 8 stone) I don't want to lose much weight so I had to start eating vegetable's , that went on for another 2 days and I slipped last night when my friend got her results we went out for a meal.
My symptoms are - belching , dizziness , bloated , joint pains , sour taste , bad breath , slight muscle spasms (especially when I'm high) , lack of concentration , unable to focus my eyes for too long, spots in vision , tiredness, nervous ,acid reflux, tummy aches , random pains and I eat a lot of crap and never seem to put on any weight.(I am healthy but I eat junk too) I've been researching candida , but people with yeast overgrowth tend to put on weight, and people with parasites lose it. So maybe its parasites?? In my stool there is sometimes worm shapes coming out but their never moving. And I have noticed sometimes there are read stringy things too which I guess could be blood?(weird to look at it but I had a hunch about the parasites) any info would help , I probably need to see a doctor but they're so useless and aren't very much help at all. I obviously have seem them a few times this year about all the symptoms so I think they rekon I'm worrying. The worst symptom for me is the bad taste and bad breath , it is really starting to get to me

  21. QUESTION:
    Candida, sugar, and depression contradiction?
Ok...So I've been changing my diet because of a possible candida overgrowth. I've been going through some harsh depression and anxiety and I feel the candida is the cause. I don't eat sugar anymore because it feeds the candida. I always crave desserts now like cake, ice cream, chocolate. However, I just read that craving sweets means your serotonin levels may be low and you need sweets to increase your serotonin production.

Well higher serotonin is good to lift depression. See the contradiction? What the heck do I do now? If candida is causing my depression, my diet to treat candida to lift my depression is helping keep my depression there. !@#$%^&*(

    • ANSWER:
Just remember Dante there is a Candida die off period. For a few days you feel better then feel absolutely terrible for anywhere between 2-6 weeks. This si the time most people start eating sugar again because they cant take it, but persist if you can.

The big thing to realise is that sugar cravings can be caused by any number of things and not necessarily low serotonin (could also be chromium deficiency etc), btu is more likley to be the candida in your case.

Ensure you are getting adequate protein (shouldnt be hard on a candida diet) but that you are breaking your proteins down to amino acids properly by taking digestive assistants that contain proteolases. The sugestion fo DL-Phenylalanine is fine, but i find protein supplementation often works just as well.

      Good luck! god bless!

  22. QUESTION:
Different ways to treat PCOS, and getting pregnant and possibility's of it resulting from Candida Yeast?
OK, I have had PCOS for at least 3 - 5 years. I am trying everything I can to get better/pregnant. I have changed my lifestyle around the ways I eat, sleep, exercise, and have sex. I have consulted with almost 10 doctors, OB-GYN's, and everything else imaginable. I have tried medications (Clomid, Metformin, etc.), Vitamins, and nothing seems to work.

I have done hours and hours of research, and I have pretty much gone to the limits to try and get rid of my PCOS. If there are any great tips out there that have personally worked for you, I am willing to try to get rid of this. My periods are semi-irregular. I get them about every 35-45 days, and fortunately have been since November of last year, which is new for me. I did miss march, but it was weird how it worked out.

After hours of research, I also found this:
"Candida is a fungus that is found in the body in benign amounts, but when given the correct circumstances, grows uncontrolled throughout the body. It most commonly resides in the small intestine, but it often runs from the sinuses down to the groin.

Candida is known for causing, or being a part of, reproductive organ problems, such as yeast infections, endometriosis, PCOS, impotence, and fertility problems. Other symptoms may be difficult to pinpoint. The most obvious is yeast infections, especially chronic yeast infections. It can also cause depression, gastrointestinal problems, allergies, and a variety of other symptoms. Candida makes a person crave sweets, grains, and cheese and makes you eat when you're not hungry and/or more than you need. It can lead someone to become overweight.

A candida yeast overgrowth is caused by eating too many foods that feed the fungus, such as the foods mentioned above. However, most people get it from taking oral antibiotics, which end up killing all the bacteria in the body, including the good bacteria which keeps the normal levels of candida benign, allowing the fungus to grow to massive amounts."

    Source: http://www.steadyhealth.com/how_to_get_rid_of_pcos_t177577.html

Now if this is true, this is very possible for me! I am CONSTANTLY craving sweets/chocolates, and when I first found about that I had PCOS, I had chronic yeast infections, and in about 2 years I had about 10-15 of them. And since then, I get about 1 or 2 a year.

Is this a possibility for me? How do I get checked? What are some treatment methods (Vitamins, Home remedy's, prescriptions, etc.)? And will my PCOS go away by treating the Candida, and if so, will I need a scan again/how will I know? Can anyone else testify to this Candida Yeast issue, and what worked for you?

    Thanks for your time.

  23. QUESTION:
Could I have Candida overgrowth? I have weird symptoms...?
To start off with, I have been having strange symptoms that worsen with stress/depression, but are nonetheless symptoms I have rarely or never felt before. They started around last June, when I was put on Yaz birth control to regulate my periods (which were constant and never seemed to stop). I started to get panic attacks, and decided around October/November to stop taking the pill in case that was the cause. The panic attacks went away, but I began to get a feeling in my throat called "globus hystericus" (basically, my throat will either feel incredibly swollen or like there is something stuck inside, nothing cures it-neither sleep, nor diet, nor excersise-but there is NO pain). That feeling went away for a little bit but then returned around December/January, and then was replaced by horrible acid reflux/feelings of nausea/upset stomach. My doctor put me on Prevacid for that, which seemed to cure it, until now, when all those symptoms began randomly coming back (especially the swollen throat feeling). I've gone back to having irregular menstrual cycles that usually consist of prolonged spotting, and I constantly have discharge. Sometimes when I eat, I feel like my stomach has trouble digesting and I just overall feel weird, like my stomach is "clogged" or something, although there is usually no pain and I am constantly needing to use the restroom (if I wait even five minutes too long, I feel overall sick inside). I also have trouble with tiredness/lack of concentration/mood swings, although I think I've always been sort of like that, to an extent. My roommate has been telling me about Candida overgrowth, and I have a feeling that may be a cause of my symptoms, although I don't know for sure because I don't really know whether the extent to which I feel this way is legit or psychological. I have been trying out the diet for around three days now, but I'm very small and I fear the "die off" symptoms may actually mean more harm than good for me, especially since I'm not sure if I really have it or not, although I incredibly suspect that I do. As far as antibiotics go, I usually get a sinus infection at least twice a year, and have always been put on antibiotics for 1-2 weeks to cure it (it's always worked). Last fall/winter, I unusually had three within only a few months and went on antibiotics as nothing else cured it. I really don't trust doctors and I am a college student with limited resources, as far as seeing a natural doctor/being on meds goes. Can somebody please give me a little help? Thanks!

Candida overgrowth is an fictitious condition invented by alternative "medicine" practitioners to milk money off gullible people.

  24. QUESTION:
Test for Yeast Overgrowth, Leaky Gut, Candida........Autism?
My son is 8 years old and has shown mild signs of autism. After doing some reading and research my wife and I are contemplating a gluten free dairy free diet for him. From what I gather the whole gluten dairy thing narrows down to yeast overgrowth, stuff getting through the stomach and getting to the brain, etc....it all makes sense considering so many of the listed symtoms really hit close to him and his traits. ......is there a way to test for this before going through this strict diet.....cause from what i gather if there is no yeast overgrowth, candida, leaky gut... then there would be no need for the diet.....I will be contacting his pediatrician but want some faster answers....any help would be appreiciated.

    • ANSWER:
There are doctors who test for yeast overgrowth by testing various bodily fluids and excretions, but some doctors aren't willing to test for these... same thing with gluten allergies, but allergists are sometimes more willing/able to test for that. You could always ask about those first, but be aware that a gluten intolerance doesn't always show up the same way as an allergy does so it may not be the final word if he's not "allergic" to gluten.

Unfortunately, with the limited research on the subject, there aren't as many people who know enough about it to adequately verify with "normal tests" so you might just need to do an elimination diet to verify. Gluten intolerance and yeast overgrowth are relatively newer ideas in the medical community so there's a lot more debate about several aspects of it. Good luck and I hope I helped!

  26. QUESTION:
RESISTANT STRAIN OF CANDIDA ALBICANS CAUSING PERSISTENT VAGINAL THRUSH or DO I HAVE VULVODYNIA? PLEASE HELP!!!?
20 year old female, chronic thrush sufferer.
MARRIED, tend to develop thrush symtoms day after intercourse.

became very noticible when bouts of thrush became more intense and more frequent.

It began from a thrush infection, petri dish results came back from the lab specifying that i had a "heavy overgrowth of candida albicans", this was almost 3 weeks ago.

For many years from ages 14-till now (20) i have suffered from reoccuernt bouts of thrush, usually minor enough to be treated by 6 day course of canesten cream and which always clears up after treatment.

I was just routinely tested for clamidyia, herpes virus 1 and 2, hiv, bacterial vaginosis, uti (urinary tract in fection) and they all came back negative. (A HEAVY OVERGROWTH OF CANDIDA ALBICANS) was THE CULPRIT.

i dont smoke or drink, am not on the pill, i dont have diabetes but i do suffer from stress and anxiety and hypoglycemia as well as love my chocolate and coffee a little too much.

i wear cotton undies, dont wash my vagina with anything other than water, i both eat yoghurt and apply it topically. i am taking inner health plus capsules every day to help my body build up its good bacteria. i eat a lot of garlic, am now bathing in baths containing apple cider vinigar and baking soda.

i am now boiling my water, drinking more than 2 litres a day and cutting out all suger, caffeine and antibiotic containing foods such as red meat chicken, eggs and naturally ALL YEAST CONTAINING PRODUCTS.

i am up to my wits end with pain when i pass urine even though i have been tested for a UTI twice now and they both came back negative. i have a CONSTANT BURNING SENSATION on the outsie lips of my vulva that periodically worsens in bouts of varying intentisity.

BUT THE BURNING IS ALWAYS THERE!!!.

i am going to see a specialist however, the doctors are saying that i should be sitting on their side of the desk consisdering i have researched so much to help myself but they just prescribe one treatment at a time to no avail.

    TREATMENTS I HAVE USED
i have used canesoral duo (oral capsule and topical cream) 3 days later no improvement, canesten 3 day cream, 3 days later no improvement, visit to the doctor again prescribed NILSTAT for a course of 14 days, burning began to get worse whilst using the cream so i stopped went to a different doctor and was prescribed orzole oral capsule and canesten 6 day pessary (the ones u insert in the vagina) no improvement. so back to the doctor and was prescribed boric acid (14 day course).

Am currently on my 4th day of treatment and symptoms have remained the same-constant burning-worse when i URINATE-fluctuaing in levels of intensity. i am extreamily depressed and have suicidal thoughts.

on top of this my anxiety is playing up and making it terribly hard to keep up with anything in my daily life. i have drastically changed my diet to kill the candida yeast and am taking antifungal herbal teas from the naturopath to help elliminate the fungal infection in my body.

i am suffering really bad withdrawal symptoms for sugar and coffee which is only making the process worse. i feel as though the doctors have not a clue about how to really help or treat reoccurent thrush infections and that really brings out my anxiety and fear levels further.

i feel really alone. it is ruining my sex life, my social life, my studies, my work and my will to live.

the fact that i have tried all these treatments and still no relief makes me think is it possible to burn myself with the amount of differnt treatments i have used? AND HENCE THE BURNING SENSATION NOW?

then i think its not possible because my body would have healed itself now if that was the case.

could i have possibly cut myself when pushing the dry applicator into my vagina and irritated it?

OR IS IT ANOTHER CONDITION ALLTOGETHER?

i was GOOGLING CONSTANT VAGINAL BURNING and reaults came back about a condition called VULVODYNIA where for some unknown reason a womans vagina is constantly irritated, burning and sore.

apparently the doctors dont know much about that condition either and only prescribe antidepresents anyway.

apparently reoccurent vaginal yeast infections (thrush) can bring VULVODYNIA) ON.

does any one have any INTRICATE advice about reoccurent thrush infections and CONSTANT VAGINAL BURNING?

believe you me i have researched nealry all there is to know about canida thrush infections but all the information is so general and reapeated.

WHAT CAN I DO TO FASTEN THE HEALING PROCESS?

all these drastic changes to my diet and lifestyle are so draining and in my fragile state it is hard not to feel suicidal and totally alone.

I HAVE COMPLAINED SO MUCH THAT MY HUSBAND IS NOW IMMUNE TO MY SUFFERING STATE AND I FEEL EVEN FURTHER ISOLATED.

    PLEASE HELP!

i hope i have described my history thouroghly enough.

    • ANSWER:
Take my hand. Now take a deep breath. It's going to be ok.

You have clearly done everything in your power to fix the problem yourself. So we know this is not a lifestyle problem or anything you're doing wrong.

My best guess would be that you have Trichomoniasis. You didn't mention whether they tested you for it or not. If not then please do so. All of your symptoms fit with Trich. http://www.plannedparenthood.org/health-topics/stds-hiv-safer-sex/trichomoniasis-4282.htm#where

My second best guess would be that whatever it is it's getting passed back and forth between you and your husband. He could have something but not have any symptoms. So just when you start to heal you have intercourse and the bacterial infection is passed back and forth. Abstain during treatments and possibly have him get tested.

What you DO have is Vaginitis. That's the general term for what you're experiencing regardless of the actual cause. Here is information from the best clinic in the country: http://www.mayoclinic.com/health/vaginitis/DS00255

I don't think you have Vulvodynia, but you can read all the information and judge for yourself. You can print it out and take it to your doctor and ask them: http://www.mayoclinic.com/health/vulvodynia/DS00159/DSECTION=treatments%2Dand%2Ddrugs

My third and final guess is that there may be some hormonal imbalance going on with you. That can cause all kinds of problems. A physician would need to check your levels and prescribe any necessary medication.

You are not alone. I know it's frustrating as heck and every day is a struggle, but you're a fighter and you can get through this. If you aren't getting anywhere with your doctor then go to someone else, but don't let them send you away without a diagnosis, in pain, and emotionally shattered. Hold on. Okay? (hand squeeze)

  27. QUESTION:
    Do I have candida overgrowth?
I've recently gone to the doctor for recurring vaginal infections (not caused by bacteria, so perhaps yeast) and lately whenever I eat sugar I immediately get a case of nausea followed by the feeling of "having to void my bowels". This afternoon I had about 1/4 cup of brown rice and I also felt nausea after consuming it, but not nearly as much as when I had a square of chocolate. The other morning I took "the spit test" and I failed; there were webby spider trails and a nimbus at the bottom of the cup - I have read that the spit test isn't a good indication whether or not I have a candida problem, but what about in conjunction to sugar sensitivities and recurrent yeast infections? As a side note, I also feel a slight tightness in my chest, probably from bloating? (I've had numerous heart evaluations during my last physical 2 months ago, and I am in top shape in terms of cardiovascular health). If I eat Greek yogurt rich in probiotics or food low on the GI scale, I don't have this problem. Also, I just checked my blood sugar (my sister is diabetic) and my sugar levels were normal - 100.If this is indeed candida overgrowth can I balance myself with extra virgin coconut oil, garlic supplements, a low GI diet, and plenty of probiotics? Thank you.
If this condition doesn't exist, then it must be a food allergy - a little bit after I posted my question I noticed that I was continuously scratching my face and upon looking in a mirror, I discovered I had a rash. I'll go to my primary and see if he can perform a food allergy test. Thank you.

    • ANSWER:
Recurring vaginal infections could be a symptom of candida overgrowth, but the sudden appearance of your other symptoms wouldn't necessarily be related.

Canadida overgrowth is actually difficult to pinpoint without professional help, and conventional medical physicians aren't able to help except for prescribing more aggressive anti-fungal medication as the problem gets worse. Your best best is to consult a naturopath who can test you for candida overgrowth and food intolerances and prescribe supplements and changes in your diet accordingly.

  28. QUESTION:
Please please give honest answer.. candida scams?
Hey guys, I need some advice cause i dont know what to do.
I have been suffering with generally feeling unwell for the past 4 years... pressure headache on my eyes and temples, spacey, dreamy feelings, tiredness, heavy head.. and 2 health shops did a test and said i was a candida overgrowth.. i did the diet for 2 months with no change so gave up..
Howver, I have been feeling really down recently.. im quite big and binge eat.. and went to see my DR. He said the symptoms are more likely to be stress related and that Candida is not the cause of this all.. the problems is I worry cause I have felt like this every day since I was 17 and it's so bad how can it all be in my head??? It started about a year after a family member of mine died and i started binge eating and feeling bad.
I had blood tests and they are fine, just a slightly underactive thyroid. Should I be on the candida diet?? Im going well at Weight watchers but I dont think its goin to help and im scared to eat some stuff!

    • ANSWER:
Candida is a genus of fungi. Candida albicans is the species of fungus that causes candidiasis, basically an infection or as they seem to say here, overgrowth. Your doctor is correct. Candidiasis is relatively easy to identify and if your doctor can't do it, he should be fired. Health shop employees don't have a clue what candidiasis is. They have little or no scientific background. There is NO SUCH THING as a Candida diet, not scientifically anyway. I could inject your pharynx with a highly active strain of Candida albicans and as long as you are immunocompromised, you're going to get oral pharyngeal candidiasis regardless of what nonsense diet you're on or what herbal supplements you're using. There aren't any diets or herbal supplements that help your immune system except a regular balanced diet. Consulting a "health shop" about your health is like consulting a monkey on how to drive a car. Natural doesn't equal safe (in fact the most deadly toxins in a lab come from nature).

  29. QUESTION:
please please give me advice.. on foggy brain/candida/anxiety/bingeing??
Hey guys, I need some advice cause i dont know what to do.

    • ANSWER:
I'm not too familiar with the 'candida diet' nor do I give much credence to it :) It seems that mostly 'doctors' or holistic health (or 'naturopathic physicians') or even health stores where they want to sell their products talk about that sort of thing ;) And especially since you tried that 'candida diet' for two months with no resolve, I would be really skeptical of it. Please talk with another dr and perhaps he can get a new panel of tests including routine bloodwork/blood count and even a cat (computerized axial tomography) scan of the head to rule things out.

Someone who binges on food is most likely an compulsive/emotional eater, stuffing their feelings instead of dealing with various emotions. I'm an emotional eater myself albeit somewhat overweight and at times, a stomach/belly ache helps to 'numb out' from feeling the emotional pain otherwise. Stress can certainly be a trigger for binge eating as well as causing various physical problems. Please do consider talking with a licensed therapist who treats those with food addiction and eating disorders especially since you noticed the behavior after the loss of a loved one. I'm so sorry for your loss.

Please do get an updated physical, and try to get to the bottom of your symptoms. If have an underactive thyroid, perhaps an endocrinologist can advise if needing medication. I believe that those with hypothyroidism ('hypo' means 'under') can cause tiredness, sleepiness and headaches.

  30. QUESTION:
If my daughter has an ear infection, is it absolutely necessary for her to be on antibiotics?
I am not sure if she has one or not. She was really ill and cranky yesterday, and pulling on her ear, but no fever. Today she is all smiles and not pulling on her ear, but she still has a runny nose. Is is absolutely necessary for her to take antibiotics if she does? I just don't want to start my baby out on a path of constantly taking medicine for every little problem, especially antibiotics because they can help cause an overgrowth of candida. Are there any alternatives?
Just to clarify, I have every intention of taking her to the doctor. I just wanted to know if there were any alternatives to antibiotics. She is only 9 months old and they are so harsh on a body.
Hot mom: I am not being selfish. I am seriously concerned about the risks antibiotics can have on a baby this young. If it is the only treatment and she DOES have an ear infection, then I will by all means do whaterver it takes to make her feel better. Those beliefs are not just beliefs....they have been proven to be true. Anyway, I would never intentionally make my daughter suffer because of a stupid belief, but I also don't want her to take medicines that are harmful for her if she doesn't need them or if there is a better alternative.
Why do you people feel the need to attack me for being concerned about giving my child medication. And I did not diagnos her, but I have 4 kids and 2 of them have had lots of ear infections. I am not saying she does have one, but I think it is possible. That is not handing out a diagnosis. That is just a concerned mom trying to figure out what is wrong. She already has an appointment with a doctor so you people can quit being jerks about it.

    • ANSWER:
Since she is only 9 months, I would suggest massaging a blend of anti-infectious oils around the ear and down the neck (make sure she doesn't touch this & then put her hands in her mouth) ... Suitable oils include lavender, chamomile, and tea tree oils. You can also mix a drop of clove oil in a little grape seed carrier oil and massage that around the neck and ears.

You can also peel the skin from a bud of garlic, cut it to fit into the ear canal, wrap it in gauze, heat gently and place it into the ear canal.

Garlic (raw, fresh) is like a "cure-all" remedy .. it helps bring down fever, it is an antiseptic/antibiotic/anti fungal/antioxidant/decongestant, tones the heart and circulatory system, boosts the immune system, helps reduce high blood pressure, helps prevent heart disease and may prevent some cancer.

And for the people who criticize ... there is NOTHING wrong with seeking alternative medicine/treatment ... and for those who think it is, you are BRAINWASHED into believing what our government says is "good" for you.

  31. QUESTION:
Why do people listen to the FDA? I mean it's so obvious they're corrupt?
I keep seeing the questions about herbal remedies getting smashed because the FDA said it was bad. Well they aren't bad the FDA is a greedy money hungry evil corporation. I had high blood pressure and i started taking hawthorne berry pills and it dropped to normal in 3 weeks with Absolutely no side effects. I read in all of these places that it can do this or that its just bs.

People keep trashing colloidal silver saying it turns you gray. It is such a rare side effect that its ridiculous to even state it. Did you know that ibuprofen can make you go blind? Did you know that pepto can destroy your colon? Did you know that antibiotics give you a candida overgrowth which causes your immunes system to drop. So you more susceptible to cancer, heart disease, diabetic, and other killer disease. Dont be corrupt by the FDA they're bastards

    • ANSWER:
I agree that the FDA is corrupted, but that's just like the entire government. Special interest groups run this country, and they always will.

  32. QUESTION:
is my weight gain caused by candida?
I am struggling to lose my pregnancy weight gain. I am more disciplined and eating more healthily than I ever have in my life, and am exercising moderately ( and with 4 kids am definitely not doing a lot of sitting around). It seems like it takes me a week to lose half to one pound, which is fine with me, except that if I splurge a little on the weekend I can actually gain 3 pounds in one day! I know its not fat, but its so frustrating. I can lose the 3 pounds in a few days and then lose about half a pound more after that if I work real hard, but I feel like I'm playing chutes and ladders.
I have a minor yeast infection now, and I have had extreme fatigue upon waking up in the morning for a long time now. Also, my upper abdomen seems a little hard and distended- like its big, but not just from fat.
Could this be from a systemic yeast overgrowth? If it is, and I am still nursing, how should I fix it?
Also, I just took 150 of diflucan one time dose for the vag yeast infection, and i'm worried that it won't help if i have a systemic overgrowth. should i ask the doc for more?
I am nursing around the clock- my baby is 5 months old, I'm still his only food.

    • ANSWER:
Yes, it sounds like candida. And yes, candida can be a cause of overweight. Yeast is a living organism that feeds off certain nutrients, and it "gets hungry" for those nutrients, causing you to overeat certain foods, upsetting the natural balance in the intestines, and create cravings to feed the yeast.
Instead of using drugs, please google Candida diet, Healing Naturally by Bee. Her website is loaded with helpful info on ALL the problems caused by yeast and how to cure it.
This woman has cured candida with diet (yeast feeds on certain foods, and must be "starved out") She has helped thousands of people overcome horrible yeast problems when doctors and medicines fail to get rid of the underlying cause.
Her program will also help you lose the extra weight even faster.
She also has an online support group, and will personally answer any questions you have.

  33. QUESTION:
Is there a relationship between candida and depression?
You see all these websites and shows talking about natural cures and ways to detox the body. One theory i read somewhere was that depression can be cause or made worse by the overgrowth of yeast in the body(e.g. GI tract) and the toxins/irritants they produce. Is this all a bunch of b.s.?

    • ANSWER:
It is definitely not b.s. Candida is real very real. If you do have Candida it will definitely affect your moods and over all health. You must first make sure you do have Candida. There are some tests you can do by answering to questions. I think naturopaths have a test for it too. If you do have Candida then you must really do your best to get rid of it. I know people who had many health related problems to to candida and after they went on the
anti candida diet, they felt 100 times better. It is real. Believe me.

  34. QUESTION:
Is it possible, that there may be a link between candida and mental illness?
I have read numerous reports. Too numerous to mention, that candida is responsible for a ton of health problems. One of those I found interesting is mental illness. I read a report that a Schizophrenic individual was given some natural "Anti-Candida" herbs and supplements. It was said that not only did the person overcome the problem with the yeast infecting their body, but they also had recovered from their mental illness as well! I know that Candida has been blamed for sinusitus, urinary tract infections. Yeast infections (Candida is Yeast) and even a type of fungal menningitis. I have read one story in which a woman died from Candida overgrowth. The yeast actually spread through her entire body and caused heart failure. Why does it seem like Candida is simply "Ignored" as a possibility for the cause of a more serious problem?
Well opus, clearly you are uneducated. GET AN EDUCATION!!! I promise you won't regret it! Or it could be that you support the low intellect of the FDA and their greedy buisiness. People are figuring out that the FDA cannot be trusted. I mean Where we born yesterday? The FDA acts like people are too ignorant to figure out their scheme. That couldn't be further from the truth. I know what they are doing.

    • ANSWER:
      Hello, Puma

I qualified in orthodox psychiatry and later used natural medicine (in particular homeopathy and diet) in my clinical practice.

In my orthodox days, had I known about constitutional homeopathy, the Paleolithic diet, probiotics, and supplements with anti-Candia albicans activity, I could have healed and discharged a good percentage of my (non-institutionalized) in-patient caseload.

Moreover, I could have avoided the involuntary commitment of some patients and I could have prevented some suicides.

You have asked an excellent question.

I hope many more people read it.

      I hope my comments help.

      All best wishes.

  35. QUESTION:
If candida isnt a real problem, why does everyone go on bout it and sell products for it?Has it been disproven?
I have a question about candida overgrowth. I was told by 2 homeopathists or something in 2 health food shops, after a test that involved a metal probe in the palm of my hand twice that I had a Candida Overgrowth in my body and this was causing me to feel spacey, tired and headachey all the time.
However, my DR thinks it is depression and I am trying to forget about Candida and have a healthy, normal diet.

Any Q I have asked on here has gone completely different depending on which section. The vast majority of people on the Medicine forum say candida IS a scam and not to listen to these witch DRs.. they also say Candida has been proven to just be present in Aids victims etc..
However, on the health boards, EVERYONE seems to believe in it and have good resultsw from the diet/ani-fungals.
If candida is a fabrication, why do so many ppl believe in and and how are all these companies allowed by law to tell vulnerable ppl to buy their products?I was spending £100 a month in desperation!
I asked the DR if I could have a blood or stool test but he said there is no need and besides they do not do them where i live in Liverpool UK. He said there is no need to test it. He did give me a week's course of nystatin tabs, but the tabs have been discontinued lol.. I went back and asked for another prescription and he said "there really is no need for that" so.. yeah it confuses me so much :( I just want to get better and the candida diet and trying to not be anxious and depressed dont go together!!

    • ANSWER:
I can sympathize with your frustration.

All people have Candida in their bodies - when there is an overgrowth, it can cause many types of problems - for instance in the mouth you get thrush, in the esophagus you get a yeast growth which makes it hard to swallow, etc. CANDIDA OVERGROWTH IS REAL.

The only true tests that can evaluate if you have an overgrowth are an endoscopy (where a tube is placed down the throat and into the stomach) or a stool sample.

Many times the cause of the overgrowth will be due to medication use - such as an antibiotic or steroid.

I had pneumonia and needed 6 weeks on an antibiotic. I developed an esophageal candida infection that needed 30 days of diflucan (oral anti-yeast medicine.) After wards, I limited bread products and sugar from my diet, as both cause Candida to grow.

I think you need to start with a stool test to see about Candida overgrowth in your digestive system - I NEVER heard of using a metal prod!

      Good luck!

  36. QUESTION:
Would this help me with a recurring thrush problem?
My nutritionist is pretty sure I have a candida overgrowth which is causing recurrent cystitis and thrush and harming my gut (if you're reading this gregg k, I know you know this already!) The thrush is the worst problem because this sets of cystitis a lot and if it doesn't, gives me very closely related symptoms anyway and smelly wee wee!!! :(

I've seen this stuff advertised. It says it's for bacterial vaginosis primarily. The site mentions thrush but doesn't say if it helps to rid you of it. http://nl.balanceactiv.com/index.aspx

I've been using probiotic pessaries called vagiclear which are amazing but very expensive and considering this candida problem is taking some time to go I can't really afford to pay for a ten day course all the time when balance activ is half the price.

i dont know what's in it, but the reason this stuff looks so promising is that both natural health stores seem to approve by selling it and doctors clinically approve...and they dont approve of anything!

    • ANSWER:
It may help, at least the reviews look promising!
Also, thrush is a type of yeast infection if I'm not mistaken.
I know a lot of people that swear that eating yogurt keeps the yeasties away.

      Good luck to you!

  37. QUESTION:
So, does everyone who is experiencing candida also have holes in their intestines because of that?
i found out that my candida overgrowth was due to the overload of antibiotics..thanks to the docs that we all trust..therefore the yeast basically became immune to all the meds i was taking and over took my body as well as ate through my intestine..fun..now im seing a specialist and am on the candida diet and taking loooots of dif herbs..did i mention that im constantly starving as well? this diet sux and what does a sweet tooth lover eat with all these restraints?? i mean i cant have aaanyyy sugar so that even rules out agave and stevia...nothing fills me up and im constantly over eating cause my palet is never satisfied...help!

    • ANSWER:
You are craving sugar because your body is used to a lot of it. I don't see why Stevia isn't allowed, but you need to make sure you are off sugar, vinegar, alcohol, dried fruit and yeast. They are what make the Candida grow and you need to stop feeding the Candida while eradicating it. A diet that absolutely works is the anti-fungal diet: http://fibromyalgia-irritable-bowel-candida-support.com/anti-fungal-diet.aspx, and a couple of supplements: http://fibromyalgia-irritable-bowel-candida-support.com/about-candida.aspx.

If you don't like what you are trying now (or want to get better in only 2 weeks or so), try this site: http://fibromyalgia-irritable-bowel-candida-support.com/about-candida.aspx

  38. QUESTION:
I need to try to rule out a health condition; can anyone knowledgeable PLEASE help?
I wrote about this strange, longterm health problem I've been having on another forum, and I got a lot of suggestions like thyroid, Candida overgrowth, depression/anxiety, Celiac disease, etc. One person on the forum, who claimed to be a nurse, suggested something I had never considered before: that it might be MS.

As an anxious/depressive person to begin with, my mind has since been going crazy with the possibilities that it might be the early stages of MS. I'm worried I may get into another depression from the paranoia, as I have faced chronic anxiety throughout my life anyway. I need some help to calm down.

Are there other conditions besides MS, which can cause some of these symptoms:
    (see next section of details)
Additional note: some symptoms of this condition started about 3 years ago. To complicate matters more, I'm a recovering drug/alcohol addict.

    - Crackling/tight sensations in the lower torso when walking, seems to make walking a little harder than it usually is
    - Visual problems (occasional blurry vision; light sensitivity; tougher to move eye muscles)
    - Constant pressure in the head (my first symptom about 3 years ago now)
    - Chronic constipation
    - Sensations of things moving/pulling/pushing inside my body, esp. around bowel area... esp. after eating
    - Crawling skin
    - Red scaly rash around both eyes (had this for 7 years on and off; BEFORE the start of this health problem)
    - Dry, "dirty-looking" skin

    • ANSWER:
First of all, why are you asking this question online? I'm just a college student, but I could claim to be a doctor and tell you it's fibromyalgia or something horrible like that. Some people are like that.

You need to schedule an appointment with your doctor, then quit worrying so much. We should not be your help. Your doctor should be your help. Also, if you can describe yourself as "paranoid" and "having chronic anxiety," you should be on an antidepressant. It definitely appears to be screwing around with your life.

      Call your doctor!

  39. QUESTION:
Has anyone taken Candigone to reduce sugar cravings?
According to Doug Hoffman, some people have an overgrowth of Candida yeast in their stomach, which causes them to crave sugar in massive amounts.

The first time I took this, I got a yeast infection within one week. This time, I am taking a probiotic with it and getting good results. I've lost 10 pounds in three weeks.

Is there a better product out there that I should buy at the end of the month when my Candigone product is gone?

    • ANSWER:
Perhaps your best strategy is to reduce your sugar intake as sugar aggravates Candida. See item 27 in http://www.rheumatic.org/sugar.htm .

Candigone seems to be useless unless you take a probiotic with it.

  40. QUESTION:
What are all the causes you know of that contribute to acne?
I'm trying to figure this out. I have mild-very mild- acne, so after checking out and reading articles with the use of homeopathy, naturopathy, western medicince, ect, I've come to these possibilites of causes:
    1. Hormones - Puberty especially...testosterone may be too high which messes a whole lot of things up with sebum production I believe??
    2. Liver isn't functioning right and some how testosterone is converted into DHT.
    3. Way to many androgens in one.
    4. Yeast-Candida overgrowth in gut.
    5. Skin reaction to clorine-Cloracne
    6. Parasitic activity in one.
    7. Leaky Gut Syndrome is causing food things (lipids?) to leak into bloodstream messing up skin.
    8. Way to much sebum coming out of ones skin.
    9. Stress
    10. Genetics-predisposed..but how--hormones?
    11. Iodine-may be expelled through skin.
    12. Adrenal problem.
13.Fatty foods full of saturated fats/trans fat causing the oil to be dirty.
    14. Wiping/touching face with dirty hands a lot
    15. Impure blood so to speak...(liver problem)
Out of room, that's all I can think of..maybe I'm missing something. So lets see..things that may help:
    EPA/DHA from fish/flax oil
Zinc, Vitamin A, B-complex, no dairy, no starches, probiotics, superfoods, unprocessed, no sugars, herbs: chasteberry, dandelion root, burdock root, saw palmetto, milk thistle, oregon grape root...Skin topicals: oatmeal or rasberry...Apple cider vinegar too.
Lots of water, sleep, don't touch face,

C'mon what else am I missing??

  41. QUESTION:
Where would I find probiotics and anti fungal pills for Candida?
I think I have a candida overgrowth in my stomach. It feels like swords dipped in lemon juice stabbing me from all over my gut at the worst (mostly in the upper stomach), and a dull VERY HOT sickly presence in my stomach. I passed the yeast spit test, but I have no money for a Dr. if I did I would've had my debilitating back and knee checked out four years ago.

I can't live in this pain, it is causing me frightening thoughts of suicide, and I live in isolation so it's not like I can find someone who understands. Haven't found someone who understands me my whole life. My parents are dead, no family, no friends, nothing... nothing but mental, physical pain, grief, and loneliness.

So yes, where can I find probiotics and anti fungal pills? Please help me.

    • ANSWER:
      Forever Active Probiotic:-
Microbes are live micro-organisms that exist in our bodies and play a role in our general health and wellbeing. While some microbes are bad, the majority are beneficial. These "good bacteria" are called "probiotic", meaning "for life" in Greek. Forever Living Products recognises the important role that beneficial microbes play in human health and the need for supplementation through probiotic therapy. Designed to promote a healthy digestive system, Forever Active Probiotic is a small, easy-to-swallow beadlet that helps overcome imbalances created by our food and lifestyle choices, which can inadvertently lead to a reduction in the amount of naturally occurring probiotics. Forever Active Probiotic works primarily in the colon where it assists with the process of food digestion, helping to release nutrients for absorption, and contributes positively to normal human growth and development by helping to maintain a balanced and healthy system.

  42. QUESTION:
Could all this be down to anxiety/depression??Pleas help!?
Im going well at Weight watchers but I dont think its goin to help and im scared to eat some stuff!
i do appriciate ur advice.. but these are not little things.. they can make me feel like i have got full on flu and it can stop me from going out.. but it is a good idea to do more exercise... can this get rid of symptoms?

    • ANSWER:
Exercise. There is nothing wrong with you that will kill you. Get up and get moving. Quit worrying about the little stuff. Start walking. First 15 minutes, then 30, then an hour every day. Don't take any weenie excuses off of yourself about how it's too cold - put on a coat and gloves and get walking. After 30 days you WILL feel better. Add more exercise like weight lifting, crunches, or an exercise video later. Focus on your progress, not the little stuff you think is wrong with you.

  43. QUESTION:
How can I get my boyfriend to be supportive and understand?
I have a candida overgrowth which has been causing havoc for all the months it took me to realise what the hell was wrong with me!!

I've had to give up a massive chunk of my diet. No alcohol, tea, coffee, sugar, yeast, lactose, wheat...ahh if you've had it you know it.

I'm getting back on top, I have a great nutritionist and Gynaecologist.

However, what I'm finding hard is although my boyfriend is lovely, just because his bladder is normal and his pee is not burning all the time, he doesn't GET IT. At all.

He runs off and buys me sweets and chocolate and pudding and all he has to eat at his house at the end of a long long tiring day at work....white bread and carbs carbs carbs..... He's only just been able to accept all I can drink is water and herbal teas.

He's not being a dick, he just can't relate because he's the picture of health and because I'm getting a hold of my symptoms...the recurrent cystitis hasn't come back for a while and I can walk and talk and play fine...in his head this equals MIRACAL RECOVERY! YAY! Let's buy a MASSIVE CHOCOLATE MOUSSE.

He's so desperate for me to be healthy and normal again that he goes into denial at every opportunity. Gets real defensive about alternative medecine and diagnosis by a nutritionist. It's driving me nuts.

How do I break it to him gently that for the next couple of months at least, I have to eat a very very strict diet and I need his help in this!

    • ANSWER:
      Hey,

I'm not going with the exact same case but I was diagnosed with high cholesterol last september, I am young and the doctor told me to go on a diet and exercise, My wife at first could not understand this and would do the same your boyfriend is doing (bring candy and fatty stuff), the same happens at work were they make fun of me for being on this diet, I just keep up with it and don't eat what is offered, I spoke with my wife and told her and now she is very supportive and helps me stay on this diet, it is hard but once they see you are commited, the attitude will change.

  44. QUESTION:
I think I have discovered something about myself that is quite interesting?
Not too long ago, I was bitted by a deer tick. I became infected with some sort of tick-borne illness. I suspected it was lyme disease but I wasn't sure. The doctor put me on an antibiotic called doxycycline. I took the medication very carefully.

Later, I began to notice that I was getting athletes foot, and constant stomach upset. I was also having anxiety attacks, and bouts of depression. I suspected that the antibiotic had caused me to have yeast overgrowth in the intestines. My question is: Could there be a link between candida overgrowth and mental illness?

Molds can produce toxins that can cause a person to feel depressed.
It seems that some natural remedies like cayenne pepper, or oregano oil make me feel much better. These two thing have also been know to help against yeast overgrowth in the intestines.
Well, I have stopped taking the medication. This happened after I used it up.

It is true that Lyme disease itself can cause depression. There is no question about that. But I am not really having any more symptoms of lyme disease other than stomach upset, and mental problems.

  45. QUESTION:
    Sensitive skin and irritation?
A few months ago I started having a prickling, sort of painful, but very irritating, sensation all over my skin. At first I thought it was my clothing detergent, and once I started washing my clothes with just baking soda and vinegar, it got better, but only for a day or two. There have been other things that seem to make it improve somewhat for a short time, like eliminating certain soaps and shampoos, but it just won't go away completely (it is, however, much better than it used to be). Right now, I'm using Kiss My Face's pure olive oil soap for my skin and a chemical-free, all natural shampoo from Aubrey Organics. I also have to use a liquid dish detergent on my underarms since it's the only thing strong enough to get rid of the deodorant/sweat residue (I've switched to Tom's natural deodorant and I think it might be getting better, I'm desperately hoping that the residue I'm experiencing when I shower is just leftover from my old antiperspirant that's resurfacing or something). I do wash it off really well.
But more and more lately I'm noticing certain patterns about the irritation. For instance, The irritation is usually worse during and right after my shower, when I go to bed, and when I wake up in the morning. I've found that if I don't wash soap of of my hands really well, the skin on them gets irritated until I rinse it more.
I think the cause of my sensitive skin might be the fact that I've had a bad candida overgrowth for a long time that has caused major stomach problems. I also have food intolerances that, in the past, have been huge problems.

    • ANSWER:
      Get rid of the residue
      Baking soda softens the water
Distilled vinegar removes residue from clothes, consider using it in the final rinse
Apple cider vinegar also removes residue however because it's acidic in undiluted form it can burn
I've tried the natural deodorants, but I have yet to find one that really works like the commerical brands
I use to itch like crazy at night, every place my body comes in contact with the sheets, I finally realize it was the hard water
I stopped taking showers and opt for baths and add baking soda
The only lotion that worked for me at the time was Gold Bond with Shea Butter
You may want to consider dry brushing your skin as the dry skin also makes the skin itch, dont use the apple cider vinegar in the bath if you're itching, use the baking soda instead and it's cheaper than oatmeal baths that makes it a challenge to clean the tub afterwards

  46. QUESTION:
Overuse of antibiotics, yeast overgrowth in intestine? Bizarre symptoms. HELP!?
took a year of antibiotics. I started taking them last summer and stopped them this past April. I was on them for a reason. but I wasn't taking ANY probiotics, nor was I eating yogurt. I also tend to eat alot of breads and sugar and stuff.

Anyways starting this past september my head started feeling out of it. Like a bit of a lightheaded feeling, and my eyes started feeling tired. one of my eyes felt like they had a stye about to come out of the lid bcuz it felt kinda puffy but it never came out. I had 2 dialiated eye exams and they both came back fine. I had tons of blood work taken, checked for thyroid problems, mono, etc etc etc.had a lyme disease specalist tell me it wasnt lyme.

then in october I started feeling worse,. i started feeling tired and run down. and my eyes started feeling more tired and became filmy,

Desperate for some kind of answers, because no doctor knew what the hell was wrong with me, I went to an integrative medicine doctor, he specializes in thryoids but he also uses different approaches of medicine to help peoples problems. he told me he thinks I have what is called candida of the intestine. its a yeast overgrowth in the intestine that is caused when you disturb the balance of the bacteria in it. Basically the biggest culprit is taking too much antibiotics. it disturbs the good bacteria and causes the small amount of yeast that is naturally present in ur intestine to go rampant and become fungal. Ive read in books and online that what it does is the yeast is fermented through digsetion, and it released byproducts of ethanol, and the ethanol toxins are released in your body and almost make you feel drunk and unwell. thus making you feel tired an run down,. it can also make your eyes inflammed and tired.

it makes sense to me because I have used SO many antibiotics with no probiotics. they currently have me on high potent pro biotic and a natural anti fungal supplement

has anyone ever had this before? i hope I get better.

    • ANSWER:
I'm sorry the skeptics attacked you in the Alternative Medicine section... please ignore their negative comments.
I wanted to reiterate a few of the good answers you got and add to them as well. Probiotics are the biggest thing to help fight Candida and yeast growth. Yogurt and Kefir have Probiotics in them, but no where near enough to make a fast impact on Candida that a good Probiotic supplement (one with 30+ billion viable organisms from several strains) can.
In addition to Probiotics, Caprylic Acid and Grapefruit Seed Extract also help to fight the Candida directly, so those three together are a very good combination to fight Candida.

As far as food intake for Candida, it's more of which foods to avoid than which foods to eat more of. Avoid sugary foods (since sugar feeds Candida) and if you want to cover all your bases, even natural sugars would be best to avoid (eg. fruits, fructose, ribose, etc) because yeast can feed on most any sugars. Also, minimize the refined carbs you eat for the same reason... carbs convert into sugar in your system, which feeds yeast. It seems too obvious to say avoid products with yeast (breads and whatnot), but still.
Those options will help a LOT to starve them while you attack with the supplements. Eating lots of fiber (veggies, especially) will help with elimination, which can help remove some of the yeast as well. There are a lot of angles that fighting Candida comes from, not just one or two.
Most of the cases I've heard of that used regimens like this showed an impact within just a few days (where they noticed some benefits) and were often almost completely gone within a month or so, but some more extreme cases took longer. Good luck and I hope I helped!

    • ANSWER:
Yes, I have heard of it. It is a bugger to get rid of and eating pastas, breads, and sugars does not help the situation at all. Probiotics are a must but only by gradually increasing them, otherwise they can make you feel worse at first. Make sure they are the enteric coated type, otherwise your stomach acids will kill off most of the good bacteria before they make it to your intestines. I would also suggest adding a good digestive enzyme to your meals as other foods that are not properly digested can lead to fermentation too.

Don't dismiss the possibilities of allergies either...especially regarding your eye problems, including any lotions or make-up products . Also, food sensitivities can and DO develop in adults too. So maybe keeping a food diary/symptom diary for a while might be beneficial.

Edit: "Lol......wait until Weise Ente see's this" Very classy to laugh at the questioner right off the bat Rhianna just because you don't agree with the concepts outlined in their question. Good thing you are going to med school to become one of the stereotypical arrogantly self-absorbed doctors with a god-complex because as a nurse, your bedside manner really leaves much to be desired. At least as an MD it won't come as any surprise.

  48. QUESTION:
    Mysterious Instant Stomach Troubles
Going to be as brief as possible: 21, male, healthy. Large build 230, 6'2. Drank wine a bit consistently for 5-6 months, no problems. Drank other hard liquor in the past, no problems. Tried Gin on June 6th, half a bottle (Seagram's Extra Dry mixed with lemon juice and ginger ale..I don't usually mix, was doing so for fun). Immediately noticed I had to keep taking deep breaths/out of breath sensation, stopped. Not sure if the Japanese food (sushi etc.) could've had an impact. Drank Jack Daniels and rot gut vodka before, so it was not a matter of tolerance or alcohol exposure.

Next day woke up to a feeling below the throat, felt like a constant need to cough. Went to the doctor...EKG, Chest X-Ray, Barium Swallow, Spirometer/Flow Meter (lung test), Gallbladder Liver scan, all negative. Endoscopy showed a very very small 3-4 cm sliding hiatal hernia, deemed asymptomatic (does not produce symptoms) as it was so small it didn't even show on the Barium Swallow X-ray. Endoscopy showed no irritation, irregularities or inflammation. Allergy tests showed nothing, Clarinex did nothing.

Symptoms are: Constant cough/irritation between collar bones, murky/powdery stools (as if you were to flush powder from the bottom of the toilet bowl and it billows up), sinus congestion, excessive burping, extreme fatigue, minor heart palpitations, yellow/white coated tongue, hurts to take a deep breath. Spaced out/tired after eating, worse than the "after turkey meal feeling". Excessive salivation/sweet tasting salivation. Hear an intermittent sound like gas escaping through my esophagus to my neck when I lie down. No heartburn whatsoever. Odd sour taste at back of mouth.

No history of any problems, no history of hypochondria, not psychological (Ativan and other sedatives did nothing). Antibiotics did nothing.

A homeopath suggested Nux Vomica, did nothing but calm me mentally.

Acid reflux/GERD was suggested, took Prilosec, Zantac, Pepcid AC, no effect. Moved to PPI's (strongest stuff they got), Protonix/Aciphex/Zegerid, did nothing.

It has been 2 months, the symptoms persist despite diet changes. Suggestions regarding a decrease in weight were made. Factors of environment include mold under my water bed that has grown over the years due to frequent popping of the tubes. A plan to replace the bed is underway. It has been suggested that the mold is causing this, or perhaps a Candida Albicans yeast overgrowth, however, the reaction to the Gin was sudden, instant, and very acute. I felt no symptoms whatsoever prior to consumption.

5 doctors, a gastroenterologist, a pulmonary specialist, 10 health coach's/nurses from the insurance company, a renowned medical researcher, and a famous health expert who exposed a pharmaceutical scam had no clue whatsoever, and were completely baffled.

I have gotten some guidance from a Chinese medicine woman/acupuncturist and am undergoing treatment through TCM (Traditional Chinese Medicine).

Nevertheless, I am asking for your opinions. Do not tell me I have "GERD" or "acid reflux disease", those ailments are not diseases, and my symptoms/tests defy such a diagnosis. I am more knowledgeable about Acid Reflux/GERD than most doctors at this point, and I know I don't have it. I know every test used to detect it, and every "health tip" recommended for it, so don't waste my time or yours by spamming it.

I am looking for alternative causes.

    Thank you

    • ANSWER:
I am in no way a medical professional, but I have to respond because I have twice in my life had conditions that could not be diagnosed. Both eventually were, but what a horror show until then.

My first thought on reading as far as your instant reaction to the gin potion was allergy. Short of a pre-existing condition, I can't think of anything, other than a poison, that could act that fast.

As I read further, I was going to mention mold but then you did. Mold is insidious. Mold can cause hundreds of nasty symptoms. That you had been sleeping on it for god knows how long means that you were breathing it in all that time even though you didn't know it was there. I don't know if there is a medical specialty in mycology but it might be a place to start.

Also, consider that what's going on may have been caused by more than one condition or more than one allergen or mold or ... If the gin event was an allergy, maybe it triggered nasty mold spores that had been hidden in your larynx.. I mean, I'm just throwing out ideas here, but it could be two or three different maladies.

In any case, don't give up. There is a doctor who knows what it is and has at least an idea how to cure it.

      Good luck.

Question for doctors...I have an unusual medical condition and need advice..can u help please?
I have candida overgrowth in my intestines & gut which stops my body absorbing nutrients..I suspect I'm vitamin b12 deficient as I've had the overgrowth for about 6 years causing me all kinds of symptoms-

    http://www.healthe-livingnews.com/articles/what_is_the_truth_about_candida.html

I've also developed vitiligo on my hands arms and feet...

I'm so down and depressed about it it's made me suicidal at times because my doctor thinks taking Nystatin for 3 days will sort the problem but it's too severe for that.

What tests are available for this kind of problem and what should I ask for as my doctor doesn't seem to understand the condition and thinks candida can only be in the vagina.

Because I'm agoraphobic and haven't left my house for 4 years (because of the candida symptoms) it's difficult to get tests etc.

You help is very much appreciated.

    Thankyou.

  50. QUESTION:
Having trouble with urethral pain, help?
I think I finally got it sorted that I had candida overgrowth for about ive months that was causing recurrent cystitis through bouts of thrush that would then in turn infect my bladder.

I'm on a lot of supplements and probiotics now thanks to my nutritionist but I'm still left with a couple of problems.

I can't seem to tell properly when I need the loo. I can only tell when I get this sudden wave of urgency/really tense feeling at the very top of my urethra (where it conjoins with the bladder I think) and my urine seems to pool... I have to really really relax to get all the final dribbles out. Sometimes up to about 10 quite substantial dribbles that leaves me wondering why it didn't all just come out in the first place.

It's very difficult to deal with. Is this a swelling left over after the candida that will eventually go? Am I scarred after four bouts of cystitis?

What should I do? Do I need to get something like acupuncture, or carry on with the probiotics and just let everything chill out?

I've been feeling good for a week now but these little niggly problems are just not seeming to change. I'm feeling more healthy relaxed and happy than I have for ages but I'm not noticing even the most minute improvement. Halp!

    • ANSWER:
You need to give it a couple more weeks for your bladder to settle down honey.

Try to do some relaxation exercises also and take some warm baths with Sea Salt as I advised in your previous question.

Good Luck x Glad you're getting it treated
